Ms. Hupp:
On behalf of The Real Estate Roundtable (www.rer.org), please see the attached letter from our President and CEO Jeffrey D. DeBoer requesting a meeting with Administrator Pruitt.
Our board member Anthony (Tony) E. Malkin, the Chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust and the driver of the landmark energy efficiency retrofit of the Empire State Building, would plan to join any meeting.
Please let us know how we may have the opportunity to acquaint Administrator Pruitt with The Roundtable's role and interest in environmental and energy policies - and how our organization representing the U.S. commercial real estate sector may continue to serve EPA as a key stakeholder from the business community.

The Real Estate Roundtable
July 28, 2017
The Honorable Scott Pruitt Administrator United States Environmental Protection Agency 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20460
Dear Administrator Pruitt:
Thank you for serving our country as the nation's 14th EPA Administrator. On behalf of The Real Estate Roundtable (www.rer.org),1 our board member, Anthony E. Malkin (Chairman and CEO, Empire State Realty Trust) and I request to meet to discuss the U.S. real estate industry's interest and role in national energy and environmental regulatory policies.
The Roundtable shares the Trump Administration's objectives to create jobs and grow GDP. U.S. buildings - and the residents, tenants and other occupants who live, work and play in them - consume about 40 percent of the nation's energy. One of The Roundtable's key policy goals is to foster greater energy efficiency across the nation's building stock. Improving energy efficiency is a win on multiple fronts. It furthers our nation's energy independence, saves families and businesses billions of dollars on utility costs, creates well-paying jobs in technology and construction, and enhances the environment.
Our Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), chaired by Tony, promotes the economic benefits of intelligent investments in energy efficiency. His company's landmark retrofit of the Empire State Building has spurred federal policies that encourage building efficiency projects with attractive returns on investments that create well-paying jobs. In particular, The Roundtable has long collaborated with EPA on the ENERGY STAR program for buildings and its emerging platform for leased building spaces known as "Tenant Star."
1 The Real Estate Roundtable brings together leaders of the nation's top publicly-held and privately-owned real estate ownership, development, lending and management firms with the leaders of major national real estate trade associations to jointly address key national policy issues relating to real estate and the overall economy. Collectively, Roundtable members' portfolios contain over 12 billion square feet of office, retail and industrial properties valued at more than $1 trillion; over 1.5 million apartment units; and in excess of 2.5 million hotel rooms. Participating trade associations represent more than 1.5 million people involved in virtually every aspect of the real estate business.

The Roundtable also has positions on environmental regulatory matters within EPA's jurisdiction that affect land development and building ownership, such as the WOTUS rule and lead based paint regulations. We'd greatly appreciate the opportunity to apprise you of our advocacy on these and related matters.
Tony and I look forward to discussing how we can best collaborate with EPA to farther our shared objectives. We will be in touch with your office to see if a mutually convenient meeting date and time can be arranged in mid- to late-September.
Sincerely.
Jeffrey D. DeBoer President and Chief Executive Officer
