You will note by the oonposition of the same that these are quite complex materials which contain aany other chemic Is aside from the vinyl chloride copolymer Itself. It contains a phthalate type plasticizer and apparently some organic and inorganic phosphates# in addltlton to sobs tin compounds. They do mot reveal the coloring materials used. X would suspect that from the composi tion of the film you used it would bo impractical to say that the results you obtained were due to the vinyllte Itself. X would appreciate it# very mush# if you .would let ms have two or three reprints of your article which has appeared in the Proceedings of the Society of Experimental Medicine and Biology# March 1952# since we do not subscribe to this Journal. Dear Dr. Oppenhelmer: In reference to your letter of March 6 requesting information regarding the chemical contents of the Goodyear Vinyl Film(poly vinylchloride) which we sent to you sometime back for experiments, I would like to quote to you the following infor mation which is as complete as we can possible make it. You will note that chemical formulations are not included for two reasons, No. I Prom time to time the chemical composition Is slightly changed and No. 2 Some of our chemical formulations are considered confidential company matter. However, I sincerely hope that the following information will be of use to you. The Vinyl Film that you received contained the following chemical type materials at that particular time of manufactur when I sent you sanples: j Vinyl chloride copolymer Phthalate type plasticizer Sebacate Phosphate Tin-Cadmium, Tin-Calcium or lead salts An organic phosphate Coloring materials; organic and/or inorganic If you still have a small piece of the material I sent to you, I would appreciate your sending it to me and we will be only t o happy to give you information regarding the metallic salts and the chemical nature of the colorants used in thafc particular film.
