Ozarchuk PMSB SHAC The Hourly Safety Committee held its regular meeting on February 24, 1981. Jessie Butler told of the suggestions and plans for--a Safety Exposition to be~ put on as a joint effort of the Hourly Safety Committee, PT Safety Committee, and the Office Safety Committee. J. A. Glass met with the group to discuss the plantwide safety problem and the program to obtain creative solutions from across the plant. Old Business Manlifts An assignment has been made for a job-safety-analysis. -- No report to date. 35F Mixers This item was inadvertently left off last month's minutes. The status will be discussed at the March meeting by Greg Daues. PT Personnel Training Training of new PT personnel in field safety is now being done as suggested. New Business Work Permits - Fire Permits Work permits are used in some units and not in others. Some questions may be caused by the different types of equipment in the various units. Impact Wrenches 1. Material handlingAmust use hand wrenches to connect hoses yet ship personnel use impact wrenches on the same job. n - Wp ran V. Osburn reported that material handling cannot be sure of the decontamination of ship equipment, considers hand tools safer, and does not want to be the cause of a ship fire. . . faK\lU zUlft : ttm'4 jpaiis. Specific instances should be called to the attention of unit super vision. There may be instances where this could be a safe practice. The last part of the meeting was devoted to working on the assignment made in creative solutions to the plantwide safety program.
