I also had thought that this -particular ground had been covered years ago, and that we would not be called upon to supply any further copies of the original reports,most of which, as you say, are now long out of print. Y o u m i l recall the report of the Government Committee here. It is so long since we. had occasion to refer to this report, that when the Swedish Government people asked us for a copy .we found that there was only one left in our files. It is not possible to get any further supplies since the type has long since been destroyed. I believe, however, that one copy should be sufficient for their requirements. I have not been able to shake off the multiplicity of my responsibilities despite the return of peace- However, I shall do my best. *- In connection with the examination of the sludges or other . materials, such as that which may be found in rail tank cars, it seems wise to forward to you a stepwise description of our analytical procedure for such use as it-may be to you and your associates. These procedures are based on our own experience plus the recommendations of Calingaert with respect to specific properties of various organic lead compounds. They are an improvement over those reported to you formerly, I believe, and may well be advantageous' to follow. ' ,........
