PRIMARY SKIN IRRITATION AMD SEMSITIZATIOM TESTS ON GUINEA PIGS
Procedure; The test for primary irritation was conducted by applying, and lightly rutting in, on of a 50% and undiluted solution (wt/vol) of the test material in distilled water on the shaved in of 10 male albino guinea pigs. To test for the sensitization potential, a series of four sacral
injections was given, one each week over a three-week^ period^ whichcp.^iste.dLof,0..3,.ml Qf a-1^.0^
of test material in distilled water. Following a two-week rest period, the test animals were ch sensitization "by applying, and lightly rubbing in, one drop(~ 0.05 inl) of a 5C^ and undiluted so of test .material in distilled water on the shaved Intact shoulder skin. A group of 10 previously guinea pigs received similar applications at the time of challenge to provide a direct compariso reactions on skin of similar age.

Summary a| ^------^flproduced no irrltat-'on or sensitization when tested, on guinea pig skin at 50^.
in distxTIecRaterand when undiluted.
Alt' igh no serious skin reactions occurred, good ind
hygiene practices should be used -when handling an., chemical.
Reaction Code: +, ++, .+++ = mild, moderate, strong erythema; ++++ == erythema plus edema; +++++
** Sensitization is defined as a iwo-step score increase (-<-+) at challenge over the response expect
same amount applied initially or on the concurrent controls.
