Algers, Detroit Steel Barrel GSmpany, Toledo, Ohio* My dear Mr. Algers: Following the inspection made of your plant last week by Dr. Crudgington, we feel that the fol lowing recommendations should be made in regard to the men handling drums from the Bthyl Gasoline Corporation: (1) That the work be done outside in the open air. (2) That the men wear Burrell respirators, and also jumpers which are to be laundered after use. ^ (3) That the men take special precautions in cleansing their hands, and in being careful to avoid contact with food, tobacco, etc., while working. (The Burrell masks can be obtained from the Bureau of Mines Experiment Station, Pittsburg,, Pa.) From Dr. Crudgington*s examinations he did not feel that these men show any signs of acute lead intoxication at this time, but he felt that there was a definite hazard in carrying out the work as it has been done formerly. Therefore we hope that the above recommen dations can be put into operation. We shall be anxious to have any further information bearing on this subject in the future.
