No. 259 - 1949 January 21 SHIRLEY BECOMES TITANIUM ASSISTANT MANAGER Fehl J. Shirley has been named assistant manager of the Titanium Divi sion, effective February 1. His headquarters will be in St. Louis. Mr. Shirley began his National Lead career in 1916 at the St. Louis Branch steel package plant. He became superintendent of the St. Louis plant of the Titanium: Division in 1933# and held that position until 1937, being transferred to the Sayreville plant as superintendent in that year. In 1943 he became Company production manager, and manager of industrial relations in March 1948. COALE NAMED BAROID ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER George B. Coale has been named assistant general manager of the Baroid Sales Division, to be effective February 15. His Company career began in April 1935 when he was appointed chief engineer of the Sayreville factory power plant. After two years he became mechanical superintendent at the plant. After five years of Navy service, he returned to the Company in 1945 as assistant chief engineer. He was named chief engineer of the Company on January 1, 1949. The direction of engineering department activities will be assumed by E. R. Rowley, Company production manager. STROLE NEW INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS MANAGER Luther Strole has been appointed manager of industrial relations for the Company, effective February 1. Mr. Strole began his career with the Company in 1931 at the St. Louis plant of the Titanium Division. He became a supervisor there, and in Jan uary 1940 was transferred to the Sayreville plant personnel department. In January 1945 Mr. Strole became director of industrial relations for the Titanium Division, and in March 1948 became assistant manager of indus trial relations for the Company. TERWILLIGER HEADS N. I. PAINT TRAVELERS V. A. Terwilliger, Atlantic Branch linseed oil sales manager, was elected president of the New York Paint Travelers for 1949 at the organi zation's regular monthly meeting on January 1A. He was vice-president last year. CIBORSKI CHIEF METALLURGIST AT BROOKLYN LAB John M. Ciborski has been appointed chief metallurgist of the Brooklyn laboratories. He was associated with the Magnesium Reduction Company oper ation in Luckey, Ohio during the war, and is a former instructor in physical metallurgy at Purdue University. (over) 0000-NLI-000024859 . Pi f V. C. Minsinger has been appointed manager of the Northern division of the Pacific Coast Branch. He joined the Company in 1943 handling industrial sales at the Port land office. In August 1947 he was appointed industrial sales manager on the coast. PETERS NOV COMPTROLLER AT JOHN T. LEVIS Charles F. Peters has been transferred to the John T. Lewis & Bros. Co. Branch as comptroller. He was formerly at the Sayreville plant. J. V. Ferguson has been appointed his assistant. CHANGES AT CANADA METALS Toronto operations of The Canada Metal Co. Limited have been separated from company headquarters, and a Toronto Division formed. Officers of the new division are A. R. Neville, manager; V. Irwin, assistant manager; R. V. Align, assistant manager, and S. J. Woolham, office manager. Dave Law has beerf appointed manager of Canada Metal's Winnipeg Branch. S. J. Hatchett, Sr.moves to the main office staff, retaining his title of vice-president in charge of Western operations. GORHAM APPOINTED TO NEW POSITION W. E. Gorham, Jr. has been appointed assistant manager of Baroid's Gulf Const Division. He was formerly Gulf Coast Field Service supervisor.
