Pollow-up on C-8 Bubbles
Folks,
Friday, 7/23/99, Roger Zipel presented the status of the new C-8 recovery system and explained the cause for the bubbles when It rains. (Attendees: Tony Ptaytis, John Mentink, Gary
Viliers, Bill Terrell, Kevin Rentzsch, Pat Cavanagh and Jan Stouffer). Roger had recent calculations that estimated the maximum concentration a person would be exposed to if they received a direct
hit by a bubble to bare skin. The concentration was an order of magnitude lower than the AEL
The feeling from the group was that we were handling the situation and we all agreed to have further communications with employees who see these bubbles. The following pathforwafd Items should address this issue:
1. Tony Playtis will help Roger Zipfel do an analysis of the bubbles to confirm the exposure calculations.
2. Roger Ztpfet will present the same summary to two contractor supervisory groups on Thursday, July 29. Steve Hatcher will help coordinate this.
3. The same communication will be given to Monomer and #9 A/C project personnel so they will be able to handle questions from other employees and contractors.
4. Gary Viliers will see that the other Site Service Supervisors receive the communication. If they want to hear it directly from Roger we can arrange that.
Please feel free to contact me (x4877) if you have any questions or would like more information.
Best regards, Jan
