Leveraging innovation to develop sustainable solutions Solvay's roadmap to phase out fluorosurfactants At Solvay, we have a long record of innovation, and since our founding 160 years ago we have used science to help invent more sustainable, high-performing solutions to address the challenges of today and tomorrow. An example of this innovation at work is our new polymerization technology that enables us to manufacture durable fluoropolymers without the use of fluorosurfactants. We are leading the industry in expanding our non-fluorosurfactant technology while also meeting the needs of our customers. Expanding our non-fluorosurfactant technologies Since 2019, Solvay has made significant progress in its aim to phase out fluorosurfactants. The company quadrupled its investment in Research & Innovation to develop new non-fluorosurfactant technologies. It eliminated the use of fluorosurfactants in the United States in July 2021 and, by 2026, it will manufacture nearly 100% of its fluoropolymers without fluorosurfactants at its Spinetta Marengo site in Italy Solvay's fluoropolymers are specialty materials that are needed in a variety of applications that support a more sustainable society and mobility.
