Bucknell Santicizer 334F Sales 3,430 Budget 42,000 Several drums of Santicizer 334F were distilled to produce Santicizer 334F Special. The distilled product has improved aqueous resistance and was developed particularly for the medical products industry. Tests are underway at W. R. Grace (Ellay Rubber), Baxter-Travenol and Abbott. General Tire re ordered S-334F for use in food conveyor belts. A 55-gallon drum was also purchased by Scandura Company for medical equip ment use. Plasticizers and The Environment Paul Graham (as MCA Committee Chairman) presented a paper at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Meeting on Phthalates. The presentation dealt with plasticizer theory and plasticizer technology as it relates to environmental considera tions. Other MCA data on plasticizer toxicology were also pre sented. The meeting turned out to be relatively low key, scientifically oriented and balanced in perspective. Subsequent press releases substantiated this observation. Ninety-Day subacute feeding studies on Santicizer 711 showed no untoward effects at dietary levels of 1000 and 3000 ppm. Biological effects were noted at 10,000 ppm (1% of diet). The latter level is high and would not be expected to occur during use. The report to the overall MCA membership by the Ad Hoc Committee has been sent out for approval. Carol Cable ordered 41,000 pounds for THHN and THWN insulation. General Cable reordered Santicizer 360 (S-79TM/DUP). A processing problem with Santicizer 321 (S' 79TM/DUP/ESO) was reported from Waterbury. The cause of the d Lfficulty in dry-blending is un determined as of now. Previou shipments of S-321 to Waterbury presented no problem. Santoset I Sales 5,400 Budget 6,000 Volkswagen (Mexico) is now using Santoset I. The projected volume is reported to be 60-75 M lbs./year. If this volume is correct, it will almost double our sales of Santoset I. /j ar P. R.
