Ho. 323 1952 September 22 COMPANY FORMS NEW DI73SI0B The Company has announced the formation of the Pioneer Alloy Products Division, which on October 1 will take over the manufacturing operations of the Pioneer Alloy Products Company, Inc., of Cleveland. Pioneer is one of the first producers of stainless steel castings in the country. Manufacturing operations of the new division will be located in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, in a plant equipped as a foundry and machine shop. The division's production will consist of corrosion-resisting valves, with wide application in the chemical processing and refining industries, heatr-resisting and acid-resisting castings for general industrial use, and chrome-nickel-steel valves now manufactured at the Coaqiany's Fitchburg, Massachusetts, plant. L. J. Gambow, general manager of the Pioneer Alloy Products Company, Inc., will become sales manager of this new division of the Company. J. C. MEAD TRANSFERRED TO AEC OPERATION Joseph C. Msad, former technical assistant in the mining department in Hew York City, has been transferred to the Atomic Energy Commission's Feed Mater ials Production Center at Feroald, Ohio, which is operated by the Company, Mr. Msad came to National Lead in 1945 as superintendent of the sintering plant at the MacIntyre Development in Tahawus, New York. He received his mas ter's degree from the University of Alabama in 1938 and worked as a mining engineer with several companies before joining National Lead. RETIRED PACIFIC COAST BRANCH EMPLOYEE DIES Andrew Macdonald, retired production manager for the Pacific Coast Branch, died at his home in San Francisco recently. He was 74 years of age. Mr. Macdonald joined the San Francisco office of the Bueter Varnish Com pany in 1907 as a bookkeeper. When a merger of two companies created the BassHueter Paint Company, he was named manager of the varnish department of the new organization* When Bass-Hueter became part of National Lead Company, he became production manager far the Pacific Coast Branch, which position he held when he retired in 1942. Surviving are his widow, Della V* Macdonald and two brothers, Harry R. and Robert D. Roberta, SEVEN WATCH AWARDS MADE Seven employees received watch awards in August in recognition of twenty- five years of service with the Company.
