Lutz becomes manager of the Titanium Division's technical service department, effective October 1, with headquarters at 111 Broadway in New York City. He had been production manager of mixed paints for the Company. Mr. Lutz joined National Lead on September 16, 1935, when he was employed to'.investigate the use of titanium pigments in house paints. In December 1936 he was transferred to the New York offices as assistant to D. V. Robertson in the Titanium Division's technical service department. From 1936 through Feb ruary 1946 Mr. Lutz did technical service work on paints. On March 1, 1946, he was appointed production manager of mixed paints. v TWO APPOINTED TO METAL SALES COMMITTEE J. A. O'Hare, sales manager of chemical lead products, and R. R. Stamm,manager of metal sales for the St. Louis Branch, have been appointed to the Com pany metal sales committee. Mr. Stamm replaces G. H. Worrall, manager of the St. Louis Branch on the committee. INTEREST ACQUIRED IN LINSEED OIL COMPANY Acquisition of a substantial interest in Minnesota Linseed Oil Company (a recently-formed corporation) has been announced by the Company. This linseed oil producer will soon increase its output greatly through operation of a new plant at ^Fridley, Minnesota. Seed storage facilities with a capacity of over one mil lion bushels have already been completed, while the processing sections of the new plant are under construction. " COMPANY TAKES OVER TITANIUM ALLOY BUSINESS , The Company is taking over the business of the Titanium Alloy Manufacturing Company, with head offices at 111 Broadway, New York, and a plant at Niagara Falls. The .business is operated as a division of National Lead Company, effective Octo ber 1. . Officers of the new division are: Colonel Winthrop Sargent, manager; J. Murray Johnston, assistant manager; R. P. Easton, assistant manager, and Malte Ericson, comptroller. FEHNALD TO DIRECT MARKET RESEARCH Robert 0. Fernald has joined the Company to direct its market research activ ities. Mr. Fernald has been engaged in market research for twelve years, with a var ied background of experience in the field. Before World War II he did marketing work for Lever Bros., and during the war was economist in charge of research for the requirements, branch of the Army Quartermaster Corps. Following the war he was appointed assistant director of market research for the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet Company. He entered sales work in 1915 and was ap pointed sales manager in-1929. BARLEY IS ASSISTANT PACIFIC COAST MANAGER FOR BAROID Kemp E. Barley has been appointed assistant Pacific Coast manager of the Baroia Sales Division, replacing Neal Thompson,.who has resigned. In addition to' his new duties, Mr. Barley will continue as district superintend^ of the well logging department, Pacific Coast Division. He has -been with Baroid since 1942, and has been well logging superintendent since December 1943. IRWIN COMPLETES 40 YEARS OF SERVICE Hairy S. Irwin, Southern Division manager of the Pacific Coast Branch, com pleted forty years of service on September 1. Mr. Irwin started in the sales department of the Bass-Hueter Company in 1908.. He has represented the Southern Division since 1922, serving both as sales man ager and division manager. As division manager he is in charge of all operations in Southern California,1 including the recently-opened paint factory in Los Angeles. AMRAM OF HAMLIN RETIRES Adolf Amram retired recently after more than 40 years of service with Hamlin & Company, the Company's insurance department.
