Beginning at 3:00 PM on the same day I met with all production, maintenance, and professional people in a series of six group meetings to further explain the meaning of this notice and to answer related auestions. In the discussion, employees were informed of the status of our OVA pro gram and plans for continued monitoring, the company's objectives with respect to lowering vinyl chloride atmospheric concentrations, the need for vearing respirators in specified situations, and the necessity for all employees to cooperate fully in avoiding exposure. There was no evidence of overt reaction to this announcement. However, several questions were asked by employees; primarily with respect to the blood testing program, monomer levels at the Louisville Plant, the age and service of the deceased employees, how long the company has known about this situation, and finally, if there is a connection between the subject deaths and the hand x-ray program. Our observation of employee reaction during and after the meetings, coupled with the public being informed of this situation through the news media, makes it apparent our prompt and thorough dissemination of the information released was well worthwhile.
