To assist In the problems arising in the sale and promotion of these products. (AME) 2. To analyze Westinghouse and General Electric Aroclor 1242 for anthraquinone. (REK) SUMMARY 1. A. Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin requested information on the coefficient of expansion of Aroclor 1242 over the temperature range of -4CrC. to 120C. Coefficients at 20 degree intervals were calculated from known density and specific volume data. B. Graphs and physical constants on Aroclor 1248 were assembled into a booklet on using Aroclor 1248 as a heat transfer medium. This heat transfer bulletin will be put our soon by the Sales Department. 2. At the request of the Sales Department, Aroclor 1242 samples labeled Westinghouse and General Electric have been examined by ultraviolet analysis. The Westinghouse sample has at least 0.2# anthraquinone and the G. E. sample has none. These results explain the difference in color between the two materials as noted by the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company who are now building a plant to use Aroclor 1242 as a capacitor impregnant. A simple spot test has been developed for the detection of anthraquinone in Aroclors. 0197850 HARTOLDMONOOQ4828 2-02-750.01-29X0(3) Page 2 Future Plans Assistance will be given as requested by Sales. dm 10-6-55 A.
