Our conclusion was that this man was probably not suffering from lead absorption. Undoubted ly, he is somewhat exposed to lead and has absorbed quantities somewhat In excess of those found In normal individuals. The lead concentration in the blood and urine is scarcely at the level we would regard as strongly suggestive in relation to lead intoxication. It has been so long since these analyses were made that I forgot whether you suggested that a bill be sent to you,to the patient, or to the Cincinnati Chemical Company. (I am rather behind on my correspondence r and attention to detail. However, I am sure that Dr. Kitzmiller reported the results and our conclusions to you, and therefore, I have not been guilty of negligence.) You are quite at liberty to handle this bill as you see fit. If the patient is to pay it and if he cannot afford it, please forget about the hill. However, if it is to go to his employer, may I suggest that you forward it to them. By handling the matter in this way I am attempting to save ourselves and you any possible embarrassment or confu sion.
