This, under ordinary cir cumstances, would be all that need be said about this matter, and it would be greatly to my satisfaction. As you probably know, however, Leo Noro of Helsinki is to be in the country in October, and 1 have just had word from him that he expected to be in Cincinnati on October 15 and 16. This seems too good an opportunity for oUr staff and students to meet and hear from a distinguished member of the Foreign Legion (if he is not he should be) of the Runs, and I'd like to make this possible, formally (we can, of course, find a time for him to meet with the students, other than that of the regular Seminar), provided you would find it just as convenient to come to us on October 30th or on December 4th, both of which are now open dates. I -suspect that Leo will be at the meeting of APHA in New York, and that, through your knowledge of his coming, he will be at the gathering of the Rams. Ibis may not be the case, but 1 think we should have him at the conclave if he can be there,. I would be glad to have him there as my guest, if no arrangement has been made. This might be regarded, of course, as a double-barreled form of discourtesy to you, but, if you think as much of Leo as I do, it will not be so. Moreover, I am sure you know that I could not be knowingly discourteous to you. October 16th, as of now, is your engagement, and if, for any reason, you do not choose to relinquish it, we shall expect you to come, and in that case, we shall deal with Leo as circumstances and h4s wishes permit. Of course, the Rams insult each other with deadly skill when they don't mean it, but this really has nothing to do with the Rams, and therefore, I cannot claim the right to do so on any such occasion as this.
