The resulting publicity and legislation have made the Use of this material in our products much less desirable and more costly. These events have led Abex Corporation to make the decision to exit the asbestos friction materials business. However, this will be done in a manner which ,also considers the needs of our O.E. customers whom we value very highly. Effective January 1, 1988 Abex Corporation will no longer sell any asbestos based materials. Beginning immediately, we will not quote on any new products or part numbers which you do not currently procure. We strongly urge you to test and approve one of our new asbestos-free products for such applications. In the interim, we will continue to supply your needs with asbestos based friction material if it has been an active part number. We believe this program provides you with sufficient time to conclude the required testing and certification of asbestos-free material to replace any asbestos product you may still be using.
