THE LOWE BROTHERS COMPANY INTER-OFFICE CORRESPONDENCE 9-41-50M-2737 G1017 TO W. R. Sieplein - Cleveland FROM D. A. Kohr REPLYING TO LETTER DATED Dec . 1 COPIES TO SUBJECT Historical Collection d a t e December 2, 1942. vr X0* The short history of The Lowe Brothers Company now in your possession is the best information we can give you along the lines requested in your letter of the 1st. We have never made a practice of keeping old relics and historical books that have out-lived their usefulness, and have therefore nothing of the kind to send you. That is the reason we made no reply to your letter of the 16th. DAK-REM Lowe Bros., Dayton D.A. Kohr Cleveland Bid Sales October 16, 1942 Historical Collection Cleveland, Ohio This morning I showed Mr. Q.A. Martin an old formula book kept by John Lucas, starting in 1855, which Mr. Hollinger brought to my attention when I visited Gibbsboro recently. This old book interested Mr. Martin grea'tly and he requested that I contact you and the heads of other affiliated companies asking if they would send to Cleveland items covering the early history of each of the companies. He also requested that X prepare a- special place in the collection, room for the history of these affiliated companies, where items of historical value may be safely and permanently filed. May I'ask you, therefore, at your earliest convenience, to collect such items which might be available, and which you would care to contribute, and send them to me with comprehensive description. At the same time I would like to take the occasion to collect any data ebout the early history of your company. I have from time to time gathered scraps of information, but have never made any de'finite attempt to get it anywhere near complete. I enclose copy of complete history of the Lowe Bros. Co., sent to me in 1956. Possibly you have something to add at this time. Even though I have almost no time to devote to the collection 1 would like to get everything possible and see that it is properly and safely housed in the collection here at headquarters. I thank you in advance for anything you may be able to do in this respeot. WRSiepleimrss Similar letters tot W.A. Gorrell D.A. Kohr G.A. Martin, Jr* Z.E. Martin J.S. Stewart C.A. Historical Collection Cleveland, Ohio X have daily been expecting to receive a reply to my letter of October 16 asking you to send me data regarding the history of the Lowe Bros. Company. At the time I enclosed a very complete copy of a letter you sent me in 1936-, covering the history of the company, but as we are making history daily I felt there might be something more than what'I have that could be added to the records. It is not that- there is any particular hurry, but Mr. Martin asked me to get together items from all affiliated companies, and I should like to show him what I have been able to collect as soon as possible.
