Delaware 19880-0711 October 8,2003 Re; DuPont's Letter of December 3, 2003 responding fo Ohio EPA'a request for additional investigation in the vicinityQfihe UHte Hocking Water Association (l,HWA) well field- Deaf Mr. Rurak; Thank you for providing a written response to Ohio EPA's letter dated October 23,2003 which requested additional investigation in the vicinity of the LHWA well field. As your letter indicates and as discussed in a meeting between Ohio EPA and DuPont representatives on December 2, 2003, DuPont has agreed to perform the investigation as requested which Includes the following activities' Establish at least eight (8) locations to collect surface soil For analysis of C-8, with the locations to be selected based upon air and ground water modeling and soil and ground water data already collected. Install at least four (4) around water monitoring wells within (he LHWA well field to monitor the shallow portion of the saturated zone. In addition, DuPont has offered to enhance the soil investigation to include two soil sampling events, one directly after a >0.5 inch rain event and the other after 5 days of no precipitation. For each event, DuPont has proposed to collect a foliage layer sample (grass and root zone) and a surface soil sample (depth interval to be determined). Ohio EPA fe in agreement with the proposed enhancement and looks forward to working with Mr. Andrew Hartten from DuPont to address the details of the sampling effort Sincerely, Jt^, (J-A^ ^.
