The minutes of the prior meeting were approved as previously distributed. Committee reports were given as follows: A) Dick Sager advised that ASTM F-23 is holding a symposium in Tampa, Florida on January 19-23. He also reported that ASTM F-13 will propose standards for electrical workers. DKS 156 2- - B) Jeff Moore discussed the activities of the NFPA Committee For Chemical Protective Clothing. C) Lynn Goldstein advised that standards have been established for sizing for nonv/oven gar ments and an SEI Certification Program has been initiated. He also reported that some problems arose with the NFPA chemical pro tective clothing committee concerning non- wovens. Consequently, a meeting with Jeff Stull of the U. S. Coast Guard, Jim Johnson ' " of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories and the ISEA nonwovens submittee was called to resolve this matter. D) Dick Minnette was appointed Chairman of the Hand Protection Committee. There was a discussion concerning the number of votes allowed on the NFPA Technical Committee and it was reported that John Weaver has one vote 'on behalf of ISEA. Jim Gauerke mentioned that the standards for NFPA turnout gear have yielded a warning label which is extensive. It was decided that Cathy Morin would remain as the ISEA representative to the ASTM F-23 Committee. The matter of proposed statistical reporting was discussed, but no decision was made as to the action to be taken. It was suggested that the product subcommittees review this program. Bill Blackburn advised the committee that the EPA has lowered limits on exposure to asbestos and wondered if clothing recommendations have changed. ISEA Staff was asked to monitor this situation. Chris Kairys mentioned the complexity of following state by state asbestos removal standards. Joe Bianchi was introduced as Chairman for 1987 and thanks were extended to Chairman Bedell for her work in 1986.
