Mr. Switzer represents A. T. Kearney, Inc., Investment Plaza, Cleveland, Ohio 41155. This is a consulting firm who has a contract with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to gather information on spackling materials, in order that the Consumer Product Safety Commission can evaluate the economic effect on the ban of the use of asbestos. The project leader for Kearney in Cleveland is Mr. Jim Lewis, and their representative in the Washington D.C. office is Mr. John Egan. They are contacting some thirty U.S. manufacturers of spackling, tape joint compounds, etc., to determine the brand name of materials distributed, whether or not they contain asbestos, and if not, when the asbestos was phased out. The purpose is to determine whether the asbestos was phased out more than-, twelve months ago. They are making the assumption that if products with asbestos were manufactured during the past year, there will still be material in the marketplace.
