ANNUAL NOISE SURVEY - GRAND BAYOU PROMIX PLANT
The annual noise survey was conducted on March 17, 1982. During the recent Industrial Hygiene Review meeting, it was suggested to do the survey at this time because the plant was operating at full capacity. The results are shown in Figure 1. Nearly all areas were within 1-2 decibels of that found in last year's survey. The pump by the MEA distillation column was running this year so the noise level there was substantially higher than last year
but not excessive. The compressor building, at 94 - 96 dB,
continues to be the main area of concern but the area was well posted with warning signs at the time of the survey. The blower on the fume hood was the main noise source in the laboratory. It appeared that some insulation had been removed to perform some maintenance work. Replacing that insulation may help reduce the overall noise level in the lab.
If you have any questions regarding ths survey, please do not hesitate to contact me.
