Received film on refrigerated ammonia spills from Phillips Petroleum. Film was shown to one group. Consider able discussion resulted. An investigation of our ammonia storage and handling facilities will be made as a result of this film. Film will be shown to other groups. 2. Investigated cooling tower and fire and sanitary water tie-ins at PVC and made recommendations for changes. 3. Investigated Urea Plant accident where operator was sprayed with ammonia. Problem was due to faulty rupture discs on CO2 compressor and flange problems at the urea reactor. Maintenance is now aware of rupture disc problem and process is having changes made to reactor drain valves. 4. There were no lost time accidents, three medical cases and fifteen first aid cases during the month. 5. R. J. Calkins returned to the Pensacola Plant following the Pasadena Plant start up. 6. Catalytic mufflers have been ordered for the front loaders in B area. 7. Our new motion picture projector has been received for use with safety films. Non-Safety Items 1. Revised piping at NH plant carbonate system overhead condensers to increase CO2 availability. 2. Reviewed pressure drop data on overhead condensers with manufacturer. 3.
