December 5, 1933 Dear Dr. Edgar: In reply to your letter of November 27th, I regret to say that I have not had an opportunity to go carefully over all of the material which you sent to me. I have, however, looked it all over and have found nothing which I consider unsatisfactory from the health stand point. I am of the opinion that your warning sign as submitted for use on tanks WARNING Contains Tetraethyl Lead Contents poisonous. In event of damage to tank, keep away. Do not breathe fumes nor allow contact with skin or clothing. Should any of this fluid get on body or clothes it should be removed immediately by washing thoroughly with gasoline or kerosene followed by soap and water. Notify by wire, charges collect: Ethyl Gasoline Corporation, Wilmington, Delaware. is adequate. As I understand it, this is in black and white, as the previous warning sign. If more formal approval, is desired, I will be glad to submit the matter to the Surgeon General for his action. Please let me know your wishes.
