G-P/BESTWALL GLASS FIBER REINFORCEMENT
Literally miles of glass fibers have been mixed into the gypsum core of all G-P/Best\vall \\ ailboartls. This is an extremely important factor to consider when specifying wallboard.
Glass fiber filaments of uniform strength and lenuth are as strong as high strength steel ot the same ?ize
The addition of these glass fibers adds greater re silience. strength and handling ease to the wailhoard. Should the water of crystallization of the gypsum mixed be driven off in the form of steam by exces sive heat, the remaining fiber glass content will help the wallboard remain rigid.

with a gypsum core with un expanded vermiculite and greater glass fiber reinforce ment and a lower weight than
ever before gives increased fire protection, strength and bet ter nailing qualities. The vermiculite balances gypsum shrinkage by expanding when exposed to heat, while the
textile glass filaments keep the core intact even after its chemically combined water has been released, giving a thermal stabilized core.
Advantages
Economical -- La rge. light weight panels handle eas ily and can be scored and snapped or cut to desired size.
Low Cost --New Improved G-P/Bestwall Firestop is one of the lowest cost fireproofing materials available today.
Crack-Resistance - Resists cracks due to framing move ments, vibrations and settling. I'naffected by humidity or extremes in temperatures.
Strength -- Resists crosswise stresses. 5/s Firestop has flex ural strength of 220 to 270 lbs. as compared to ASTM mini mum requirements of 150 lbs. for 5g" regular gypsum wallboard and a Federal Specifi cations minimum require ment of 110 lbs for 1 j ' reg ular gypsum wallboard.
Fire resistance
G-P/Bestwall Firestop is rec ommended where extra fireresistance is required in resi dential. commercial and pub lic buildings. For y.-ars thickness has provided onhour fire revwtance m -Ind ia yer application on both walls and ceilings over wo,..; or steel, while 1 V thickness has provided 45 minutes firrating in single layer applica tion when applied over wood framing, for both walls and ceilings. The New Improved Firestop has greater fire re sistance Firestop w ill provide 1 and 2 hour floor and ceilings in single layer application.

GYPSUM LATH
G-P/BESTWALL Type and Size
Uses
Description
Plain lath
Consists of core of gypsum rock reinforced with glass fitters sandwiched between two layers of special paper covering.
This is standard basic construction for all Bestwall Lath.
SIZE: 16' * 48', Vi' or Zi' thick
x 48` West Coast only)
The standard gypsum plaster base for nail, staple or dip application to wood or steel framing.
The exposed layer is porous and absorbent, permitting water in the plaster to pene trate the surface. As plaster sets, gypsum crystals pierce the paper surface forming mechanical kev on the lath thus assuring maximum bond. Added strength and fire re sistance due to reinforcement with glass fibers All G-P/
Bestwall Gypsum LadTT^
ing glass fibers, is Tvp*. "vv Printed face so identifies laV
Lath paper has water re; " ant inner plies which pre-'l'' the water in the plaster "lt soaking through it and
minimizes sagging of the l'ah and plaster. The layer again,/ the core is porous and ahsr.rr, ent so as to bond to the .Y,rc as the plaster sets.
Long-length lath
The same structure as Plain Lath except in dimensions.
SIZE: Available in y2" or 1 ' thicknesses--24" x floor to ceiling lengths (12' maximum)
this construction material is especially designed for use as a plaster base for thin (2") solid partitions providing fire resistive ratings up to two hours Can also be used with furring over exterior masonry walls as a plaster base.
Long Length Lath comes in lengths up to 12'. providing for wall assemblies in floor to ceiling heights. Ideal for solid plaster partitions. Since there is less lathing in job--there is a saving in construction costs. Glass fiber reinforced for add ed strength Fast and eco nomical to erect.
Application: Both plain a.-uLong-Length Lath may he ap!
plied by nailing to wood ar,,j nailing-type steel framing* and to wood framing bv ;ta. pies. They can be easilv at tached to metal sections and furring, and to wood with , G-P/Bestwall Olsen Clip; Resilient type clips reduce .
cracking and lessen sound : transmission.
Pinholath
Plain Lath construction surface perforated with Z\t dia. holes. Space Vi' o.c. diagonally.
SIZE: 16' x 48', 16' x 96', V," thick. (16'/*' * 48' West Coast only)
Specially designed tor machine applied plasters. Fast, high, even water absorption speeds plaster application by holding plaster in place during rodding and darbying.
When attached to ceilings by clips, three coat work is required. The Scratch Coat should be dry before applying Brown Coat if high humidity condition exists. When Perimeter Clips are used on ceilings, Butt and Center Clips should be used.
G-P/Bestwall PINHOLATH is plain lath surface-perfo rated in manufacturing with pin holes no larger than 'n, ' in diameter, spaced Ja o.c. diagonally.
Specially designed for ma chine applied plasters.
This unique feature permits : rapid suction of water from plaster mix to achieve perfect plaster consistency speeding plaster application.
There are no plaster slide, no backtracking, no costly de lays. Plaster stays in place during rodding and darbying which can be done sooner when using PINHOLATH. j Full base coat coverage is ob tainable in one operation. j
Perfolath
Plain lath construction with Vt' diameter holes spaced 4' o.c., 48 holes per sheet.
SIZE: 16' x 48", Vi' thick.
Applications identical to Plain Lath. A wood stud partition faced with Perfolath and full thickness of plaster specified has one-hour
fire rating. Perforations require application of full thickness of plaster and require separate scratch and brown coats.
G-P/Bestwall Perfolath is plain lath with *4 ' diameter holes spaced 4" center to cen ter. The perforations permit the plaster to push through the holes and 'mushroom'' out the back of the lath, there by forming a mechanical key. This key plus the natural bond to the face paper, pro
vides a double bond for plas ter.
Application: Perfolath may be : applied by nailing to wood ' and nailing-type steel tram- ' ing. and to wood framing by i staples. It can be easily attached to metal sections and j furring, and to wood with G-P/Bestwall Olsen Clips. Resilient type clips reduce cracking and lessen sound transmission
Insulating lath
Plain lath with aluminum foil laminated on back.
SIZE: 16" x 48", Vi' or Vi" thick. Rounded Edges
Designed primarily for application to exterior wails and top floor ceiling. Back side must face a minimum air space of Vt' to develop reflective insulation value.
Constructed exactly as PLAIN LATH this lath has aluminum foil laminated to the back. This foil reflects up to 90% of radiant heat and acts as an efficient vapor bar rier.
Designed primarily for appli cation to exterior walls and top floor ceilings. When in
stalled the aluminum reflec tive surface must lace a mini mum air space of :4 to
develop reflective insulation value.
Dens-cote gypsum base
A 4' wide, long-length, tapered edged, plain lath construction. It has a highly absorbent lath tyoe face paper with surface pin holed.
SIZE: 4' x 8', 10' and 12'; Zi' thick (K' and H'. Vt" and H' Firestop on order)
Specially designed for reception ot Dens-Cote Smooth and Texture Finish and other thin coat plasters.
