What are the security precautions taken by Goldsmith to protect its stocks of gold and silver? A. Security for our precious metals division is all-inclusive and quite thorough. Running inventories of stocks are taken each month and a complete shutdown for physical inventory supervised by auditors is done two times a year. In the plant, we have over 15 separate ADT alarm systems in addition to the normal wired doors and windows. Selected guard posts have alarms directly connected to the Chicago police. Our temperature-rise fire alarm system is tied into the Chicago fire department. Guards are on duty during operating hours at all points of entry into the plant and they patrol the plant periphery after the plant closes. No vehicles are permitted into the plant without inspection into cab and van while they are still outside the plant. Our main vault has a bank type door and no entry can be made under any circumstances except during plant working hours. The inner vault also works on a time clock system. Our employees utilize separate working clothes and street clothes locker rooms with laundry done on the premises. All packages and lunch boxes of employees are inspected by the guards. Critical areas of plant are under constant closed-circuit TV camera surveillance monitored by our superintendents and guards.
