J. M. Barnhart reviewed (a) "Report of the Proceedings of the Twenty-First Convention of the International Association of Seat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers", held at &leago, 111., September $-7, 1967, (b) Dr. I. J. Selikoff's testimony before the House Select Labor Coosittee, and (e) a legal ease in Charleston, West Va., involving the misapplica tion of a duet wrap (it was used to line a sheet metal duet). John Boyer reported on the legal aspects involved in eases of product dlsparagmeat and negligence actions. The opinion was expressed that the effects of publicity on alleged health hazards of Industry products should be a matter of most serious concern to all members. It was agreed that the following steps should be taken: 1. Develop a produet and installation standard for duet liner. -2- 2. Evaluate tad publicize duct liaer installations that are la ex istence throughout the country, including union installed, and mechanical contractor installed jobs. 3. Obtain an air analysis of existing duct liner systems (Amount, size, distribution of fiber, etc.) 4. Educate SMACSA, sheet metal shops, and SWIA with respect to proper installation techniques. 5.
