This -will acknowledge with thanks the receipt of your let ter of November 28 about the airplane tank cleaning operations at Eastern Air Lines in Miami, Florida. I agree with your opinion that a serious lead hazard is not to be expected.
I am glad to learn that your organization is taking on this investigation. Our chemist is attending a postgraduate course, consequently, the volume of our laboratory work is restricted. We have made only a few preliminary determinations for Eastern Air Lines, the results of which are freely available to you if you wish them. So far as suggestions are concerned, I have very little to offer. I think that Dr. Edwards' idea of doing lead deteminations of employees before and after exposure would be a sound procedure. Also, you might wish to enlarge the basis of your study by contacting the Pan American Air Lines in Miami. The plant physician is Dr. John T, MacDonald, 813 Ingraham Building, Miami. We would appreciate hear ing the results of your work in this investigation.
