I. INDUSTRIAL SAFETY MANUAL
The Secretary reported that 112 manuals had been sold since the last meeting and that the current inventory is 99 manuals. He stated that the Committee's desire to publish the third edition in a loose leaf form while still retaining the present stock size of the manual would add a cost of $1.50 to each manual for the three ring binder in addition to printing costs. There followed much discussion relative to the need for the manual in loose leaf form and it was the consensus that a loose leaf manual was essential to permit timely changes and future updates of the contents. On motion unanimously approved, the Secretary was requested to expedite the publication of the third edition of the "Industrial Safety Manual" incorp orating the asbestos guidelines, and an update of the fork lift truck section into the three ring punched and, stapled manual. It was the con sensus that this publication method would enable insertion of the manual into a three ring binder if so desired. Messrs. Cornell and Saturnia were requested to work with the Secretary on preparation of the third edition. Sections on noise and hearing conservation are to be added in the future, following final OSHA standards finalization. The subject was carried on the agenda.
2. SAFETY BULLETIN AND FLEET NEWSLETTER
The Committee reviewed the format of the Bulletin and Newsletter, noting approval. Mr. Rogers indicated a need for more bulletin articles and review by corporate safety personnel of articles submitted for publi cation. On motion unanimously approved, the Secretary was directed to pub
lish a member company safety article schedule for distribution to the Committee. This schedule would assign each company a specific number of

articles due at definite times during the year for Safety Bulletin pub lication. All articles submitted to the Association will first be re viewed by the corporate office.
The Secretary was requested to prepare a current Safety Bulletin and Fleet Newsletter distribution list and forward same to the committee for review to determine where increased numbers of these publications are warranted. The distribution list for each respective member company is attached to these minutes. This subject was carried on the agenda.
3. SAFETY POSTERS AND MEDALLIONS
The committee reviewed the 1975 Safety Poster artwork and se lected six posters for production. The Secretary reported that 2775 Safety Medallions of the 5250 produced had been sold to date. It was the consensus that a new promotional campaign be developed by the Associa tion, promoting the utility of the medallions for use as note holders , etc. This subject was carried on the agenda.
b. ASSOCIATION PLANT SAFETY CONTEST
The committee reviewed the new accident industry contest re porting form. It was the consensus that the form and detailed instruction sheet were fine as published, but when reprinted that the report forms be reduced in size. Mr. Rogers noted that OSHA changes in the reporting form were expected to take effect January I, 1975 and that changes in the size of the report form would be coordinated with the OSHA revision or stock depletion, whichever occurred first.
The Secretary reported that due to some communications problems that all reports for the first six months of 197^ had not yet been re ceived by Harris Trust Bank. He noted that the six month industry fre quency rate information should be compiled and distributed within the next two weeks. This subject was cartied on the agenda.
5. INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE
The committee reviewed the Asbestos Guidelines Booklet and it was the consensus that similar guideline booklets should be prepared for noise and hearing conservation as OSHA standards are finalized.
Mr. Rogers indicated that a limited number of Asbestos Guide line Booklets had been prepared in house for distribution to the committee and gypsum plant managers only. He stated that any member company desir ing to reprint the booklet for internal company use only could do so if desired. The Secretary reported that the asbestos guidelines material would be included in the third edition of the industrial Safety Manual. The subject was carried on the agenda.
