It is possible th.;,t one of our men may have a tech nical paper available for this meeting. In any case we will have the information in plenty of time before January. I have also been considering the possibility of a paper on the subject of caution labels and the general problem of getting across to th user the proper information concerning the handling of the compound. I have been struggling with this problem for a" good many months, and I find it a very fascinating subject, al though admittedly somewhat of a muddle. It is my intention not to discuss the details of specific label problems, which merely introduce arguments of detail as we have had in the past, with a thorough neglect of the major basic pattern. What I am attempting to work up is some discussion of the fundamental basis upon which such problems can be based on a good, sound, iuniform foundation, the purpose being to get, if possible, a uniform basis upon which the largest number of our technical personnel in this country are in essential agreement. When we have ;such foundation it seems quite likely that much of the confusiori could be greatly simplified and clarified. I dd not propose to give this as a report of the labeling committee of The AIHA, for I am certain that It would not be en tirely in agreement with that committee as a whole nor with the labeling committee of the M. C . A . , with which I have been working. What I want tlo do is give a basic analysis of the picture as I see it myself. T!he problem I have taken on in outlining such a paper is not a simple one, but I have been thinking about it a good deal. I wo uld appreciate your comments as to whether o r not you feel such a p aper would fit into your contemplated program. I would prefer not to make it too long a paper; however, I feel that it would requ ire more time than presentation of a single technical Investigation . I hppe you have a good bunch of pacers from which to choose. The; meeting programs in the past have certainly been very satisfactory, and I feel you have plenty of material with which to work out a program for this coming soring. I wish time would allow me to get to Cincinnati some time and have an opportunity of dropping in and discussing some of the general basic topics of industrial toxicology with your group.
