Krzywicki R.A, Loj ewski P.R, Scarito A.C. Siegel Jrfle I. RAW MATERIALS A. DHW-80 A five-gallon sample of DHW-80 made with uninhibited Gross oleic acid has been received from Henkel. Bottle polymerizer evaluation will be performed when the next preshipment sample of DHW-80 is received. II. IN-PROCESS A. Copolymer During this period, attempts were made to produce 315 in two homo polymer reactors. After a few batches, another set-up was encoun tered, Further evaluations are pending bottle polymerizer work by the Analytical Lab and Piscataway R&D. B. Dispersion A total of 22,000 lbs of 1742 resin was Grade III for contamination due to problems with one atomizer. Most of this contamination was very small particles of burnt resin. III. FINISHED PRODUCT A. Homopolymer Dry blend times have been reduced across the product line in an effort to bring most products back near specifications. Some recent 250 lots still showed high dry blend times and also fine particle size. No apparent causes have been noted. IV. PURCHASED RESINS A. Firestone Copolymer (315 Type) Several truckload shipments of Firestone copolymer were received at COIiORITE 010448 Page 2 Burlington Compound Plant during this period. Routine quality control testing showed no unusual properties. V* miscellaneous A. Special Testing 1. CBS Records The'^Brooh'fieId viscometer was received for CBS testing, and a correlation program started. Samples of both 315 and 10-5R were sent to CBS for their evaluation. No feedback has been received to date. 2. Pasadena Plant Several resin samples have been received from the Pasadena Plant for testing. Quality control testing is in progress, and a re port will issue on compilation of all testing. B. Oxygen Analysis - Recovery Compressors The hook-up of the onstream oxygen analyzers for the recovery com pressors has been completed. Some problems are being experienced with plugged lines, but the instruments seem to be functioning well. When the operations appear to be lined out, Production will monitor these instruments.
