I am a senior at Northeastern University majoring in chemical engineering. One of the prerequisites for obtaining my degree this June is to design a plant to produce vinyl chloride monomer. This is a special project that I received due to my attaining an A in plant design last quarter. The reason I chose vinyl chloride is because I intend to work in the vinyl field. I read in the August 22, 1964 issue of Chemical Week that your company produces 280 million pounds per year of ethylene and acetylene to manufacture vinyl chloride. Would it be at all possible for you to send me any available information on both of these processes in *) regard to kinetic data, design an d specification of equipment, instrumentation, economics of operation and maintenance and any other pertinent information that you feel would help me in submitting a more complete comparison of the two processes.
