It is a substance which has also been linked to a least M eases of a rare type of liver cancer among the 6.500 work ers in polyvinyl processing plants in the United States. ^Saturday night at 10 p.m. on Channel 3, CBS will examine in "The Case of the Plastic Perill" the health hazards of this ver satile and widespread product. The show telescopes the ac tion taken by government agen cies -- in this case, those con cerned with worker safety and consumer protection -- and in dustry to deal with an indus trial health problems. Morton Dean, the show's cor respondent, talks with plastics factory winters about their fears. He talks with those whose blood tests have re vealed liver disorders. And he also interviews 'Hay Gettlefing er, 42, father of six, who has in curable cancer of the liver. Large-scale production of vinyl chloride began in the 1960s and was then presumed harmless. It has taken about 20 years for the disease to mani fest itself in the plastic proces sors. There also has been liver cancer among assembly line workers who assemble the fin ished plastics products.
