Hexachlorobenzene
White to orange color solid (crystalline). No irritation to the eyes or skin. The material
can absorbed through the skin in amounts that are toxic. The dust is easily inhaled. Hexachlorobenzene will bio-accumulate. Poor warning properties. Exposure Limit .002 PPM

PPE Requirements
Per/Tet area has specific clothing and footwear requirements; for entry/work are galoshes/rubber boots and paper suit/plant issued clothing.
R-1C work will involve special procedures and area restrictions to control exposure and contamination.
All Plant-issued clothing must remain at the plant.

PPE Requirements
Contaminated PPE shall not be worn into control rooms, lunch rooms, office areas, etc.. Contaminated PPE should be removed before leaving the immediate work area.
All contaminated PPE that is intended for disposal must be disposed of in the designated container (Waste Type # 2485).

Decontamination Procedure
A boot wash is located in the containment area west of D-13.
R-1C area will have a bucket with soap and water and a brush for decontamination.

HAZWOPER Jobs
All work on D-13 and D-15 will require HAZWOPER Training.
Asbestos Gaskets
Workers must be certified in asbestos gasket removal.
Asbestos gaskets must be wetted and placed in plastic bags when removed.
Asbestos gaskets will be placed in purple drums located in the work area.
Petrin will handle friable gaskets.

Recent Incidents
Line released to Craft for work had residual material.
When the intended flange was broken, section of lined dropped.
Material was released through open flange. Plant developing procedure to address
residual material in lines. Craft developing procedure to address lines
dropping after flange breaks.
