It vu reconaended that the budget for this reaaarcb be reduced fro* $20,000.00 to $10,000.00.

It was regularly sovti, seconded and unanimously agreed that the $28,500.00 budget reccaraecdstion for this project be deleted free the i960 budget but that the Technical Steering Ccemlttee carefully evaluate this prograa before renewing the contract la Hay, i960, and if they acd the Industry Develcpnect Omittee then approve, the funds fer the rcsainlxg portion cf the year be tafcen fren the Cbdeslgnated Research rued.

The eecretery pointed out that he va* recemending lower expenditure* In I960 for red lead promotional artlrltle* because of the lntroductlcn of the new lead pigment, basic lead slHco-ehrcmat#. Be reported that two of our member* are producing thl* pigment and expending ccmtldarahl* s u b* In prcmotlng Its use. Be therefore recomnded that w reduce our field vert and advertising In the red lead field, at least for I960.
The aecretary further r*cemended that our promotional effort* la the pigment* field should stress the lead content of paint* and promote where possible the use cf the never lead pigments ruch a* the lead pearlascent pigments and the basic lead 111 co-chromate where It* o n would open new market 1 not nev within the reach ctf leadi
