The "ESSO BOSTON" arrived at the pier of Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Deck Company on June 29, 1966 for USCG biennial inspection, drydocking, annual repairs and coating of all infernal areas of all cargo tanks with Bust Ban 191*
The vessel was in drydock from August 25, 1966 at 07:00 until August 29, 1966 at 06:00. Fwd* anchor chains were ranged. Sea valves were opened, overhauled or renewed as necessary.
Xailshaft was drawn in and Waukesha oil seals renewed on fwd. and after ends.
Expiration dates of certificates that were required by vessel are as noted on attached completion form.
Baltimore Copper paints were applied to bottom of hull from keel to L.L* line.
Humble Paint Products were used from L.L. line to rail.
All cargo tanks were sandblasted as required internally and then coated with Rust Ban 191 as detailed in specifications.
All cargo lines were tested and defective sections renewed. All valves were freed up and made workable. Defective reach rod bushings were renewed.
No tanks or bulkheads were tested at this time.
A rebuilt coated main circulator impeller assembly was installed in casing of main circulator pump.
All repairs, alterations, coatings, etc. were completed on September l, 1966 t 06:00 and vessel departed contractors pier at 08:30 on that day bound for Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

RECOMMENDATIONS for Future Repairs
1) Shell Plate Renewal (Fore Peak Tank Area) Make necessary removals, crop out shell plate "A" strake stbd. side after end of fore peak tank* Approx, size of plate 8 ft. 6'* wide by 18 ft* 6" long, shaped plate 40.8# wg. Heat and fair internal frames in way of renewal. Renew plate. Reweld internals. Test tank as required, prime coat and color coat all new work and damaged area adjacent as necessary. Repair capastic in way of anode shield at after end of this plate.
2) Butterworth heater shells are deteriorated and wasted badly. New shells are on order and should be installed when received.
