Box #341 Baton Rouge, La. 70821 Dear Jim: I have had a request from the World Health Organization to write an article on tetraethyllead for their use, and have accepted the job. One of the things they wish me to include is a flow sheet of the manufacture of tetraethyllead. I spoke of this to Howard Uesselberg when we last met, and he referred me to you, with the statement that he had little doubt that this could be done. I shall treau lightly on the manufacturing processes except as they require mention in connection with specific hazards, and I shall submit what I say to examination by appropriate persons so as not to release information inauvertently that should not be given out. This will give me no problem, actually, but I'd still like to have any suggestions or criticisms that may be pertinent. (Incidentally, to whom should I submit the manuscript?) There is much to be said ano I have limited space, so that i must hit the high spots. But the flow-sheet will be helpful. Will you supply me with this in a form suitable for an international (U.N.) publication? If you think this inadvisable, don't hesitate to say so. I gather, however, that there is no longer a problem of revealing "know how," so long as only the conventional flowsheet, alone, is made available.
