Th respirator which the esnloye had been using for any years
was on whloh has newer rebeirsc ap r oval under the standards
established by the 0, 3 , Bureau of Mine*, It consisted of a white
rubber facepiece containing a snail sponge which wa* deposed to be
kept 01stoned with water to remove dusts. It did not fit the
employe'* rape properly because he had stuffed a handkerchief around
the edges* The ineffectiveness of this respirator was explained to
the operator by the area safety engineer and, while the employs "
insisted that the whit# rubber type.wat the only atfactb*^.r*.* '

After a week's trial hs reportad the new respirator wae so superior
to the old one that he wondered how he had gotten along for so wan?
years and requested that his thanks be conveyed to the ar efety
