Cincinnati, Ohio Dear Dr. Kehoe It just so happened that the day before the re ceipt of your letter of the 28th ultimo about the handling of the con centrated fluid at racing events, we had a meeting here on the subject. I think the story is rather too long to try to set up in a letter, but suffice it to say that we, by our past performances In supplying > the concentrated material to the A.A.A. drivers, have encouraged its handling in that fashion. There are unusual, conditions existing at any of their races, which the racers feel creates an insuperable ob jection to their being limited to the use of any particularhnixture of gasoline and. fluid w h i c h we might get up for them before-hand. They have recently expressed a vdllinghess to sign any sort of a paper to release us from any responsibility. However, it is not a question of responsibility to a driver who might be harmed in handling it which worries me. I am equally, If not more, concerned about the unfavorable publicity which would come if any of them were injured. Heedless to say, these drivers are dare devil fellows, who are risking their lives at every race,In the running of tbe race itself, and they look upon the risk from the use of ETHIL, which I have been told tiiey handle very carefully and with a great deal of respect, as insignificant in comparison to the larger risk they run. As you know, we have Frank Elliot, who is one of the drivers in our employ, to look after our interests at the races and see that the fluid is properly handled, etc. Nevertheless, I feel so keenly about the importance of having it handled right that I have made the suggestion to Mr. Maxwell, who is giving a portion of his time / to these races for their advertising value, that it would be to our interest to have two of our experienced inspectors present at each race to assist Elliot in properly handling the concentrated fluid. However, Mr. Maxwell is even doubtful that three men can take care of It. I, therefore, feel your suggestion is an excellent one; namely, that either you or one of your representatives shall be in the "pit" at the Indianapolis race to get a first hand close-up view ne . \> Dr. Robert A.
