The Site Supervisor is also responsible for implementing and assuring the Brand Companies and Customer's Safety and Security standards are adhered to all times during the course of the project. 3.2.2 On-Site responsibilities may be delegated to additional personnel, as necessary, under the direction and supervision of the Site Supervisor. 4.0 MOBILIZATION 4.1 Waste hauling and disposal arrangements made by customer (Dupont - SRW). 4.2 Issue proper letter of notification to EPA, OSHA, and TACB (10 day advance notice required). 4.3 Arrange for independent air monitoring service. -2- DUP 0361120 DU 000292 WORK PLAN (CONT'D) 4.4 Conduct a Pre-Construction Meeting with Customer and Thermo Tech representatives. 4.5 Begin assignment of work crew. 4.6 Take initial air samples. 4.7 Establish personnel decontamination unit (either mobile trailer unit or temporary pre-fabricated unit). 4.8 Construct area decontamination boundries and erect asbestos warning signs and flagging. 4.9 Cover all drains in area. 4.10 Set-up air sampling equipment. 5.0 WORK PROCEDURES 5.1 Entrance into the work area: Personnel shall remove street clothes in clean room and put on clean protective whole body suit, boots, hood, gloves, and Type C respirator. 5.2 N/A 5.2.1 M/A 5.2.2 Power air-purifying or Type "C" supplied air respirators - Remove as much clothing as possible without removing respirator; hold breath and remove respirator and remainder of clothing; continue holding breath and proceed iaediately to shower; stand under shower and wash face prior to caking first breath; thoroughly shampoo and wash self. 5.2.3 Following showering and drying off, each worker will proceed directly to the clean change room and dress in street clothes at the end of each day's work, or in clean coveralls before eating and/or drinking, or re-entering the work area. 5.2.4 Contaminated work footwear shall be stored in the equipment room when not in use In the work area. Upon completion of asbestoa abatement, dispose of footwear as contaminated waste or clean thoroughly Inside and out using soap and water before removing from work area or from equipment room. Store contaminated worksuits in the equipment room for -3- DUP 0361121 DU 000293 WORK PLAN (CONT'D) reuse or place in receptacles for disposal with other asbestos contaminated materials. 5.2.5 Workers removing waste containers from the equipment room shall enter from the work area wearing a clean uniform and respirator. 5.2.6 Workers shall not eat, drink, chew gum or tobacco at the worksite except in designated clean room and/or lunch areas. 5.2.7 Workers shall be fully protected with respirators and protective clothing during preparation of work area prior to commencing actual asbestos abatement and until final dally clean-up is completed. 5.3 Due to the hot nature of this project, radiant shielding and asbestos shall be removed on a semi-dry state, carefully lowered to ground level end decontaminated by wetting with an amended water solution before bagging. Radiant shielding shall he sprayed and cleaned and stored within containment area. 5.4 N/A 5.5 N/A 5.6 N/A 5.7 N/A -4- DU? 0361122 DU 000294 5.8 Material handling and clean-up: 5.8.1 Insulations and non-metallic waste shall be put into properly labeled 6 mil plastic bags supplied by Customer immediately after removal) tied, and transported to a decontamination holding area. Bags of removed materials shall never be thrown or dropped. 5.8.2 Small or suitable metallic and sharp contaminated objects shall be packaged in properly labeled, plastic bags as noted in 5.8.1 5.8.3 Large metal sheeting shall be wrapped in 6 mil plastic sheeting, taped and sealed and transported to a decontamination area. , 5.8.4 The substrate surfaces shall be decontaminated by scrubbing with non-metallic brushes and hot water. 5.8.5 Bags and packages shall then be sponged or washed in the decontamination area, re-bagged or wrapped with another 6 mil layer of plastic and transported to the waste dumpster. 5.8.6 Material shall be removed from the decontamination area in batches. The dumpster shall be an approved container which is clearly marked by signs and warning cape. MOTE; No ocher crash shall be placed in the asbestos waste dumpster. 5.8.7 In the event of a spill or package breakage, transport activities shall cease immediately. The area around the spill shall be wetted and misting shall be performed continuously while re-bagging and mop-up is performed. After the spill and surrounding area has been decontaminated, the workers shall continua normal vork activities. 5.8.8 Asbestos dumpster shall be provided with a suitable fixed or canvas cover that remains In place during dumpster transport and whan fill activities are not underway. 5.8.9 Asbestos dumpsters shall be removed and transported to an approved landfill facility within a reasonable time frame after they are deemed full. -5- DUP 0361123 DU 000295 WORK PLAM (CONT'D) 5.8.10 Temporary re--insulation shall commence as soon as practical after decontamination of substrate with material approved by customer. 6.0 SCHEDULING AND SEQUENCE 6.1 Asbestos activities shall generally occur in the following sequence. 6.1.1 Start scaffolding and run preliminary air monitoring test. 6.1.2 Start removal and continue removal process until completion. Run final air monitoring tests to assure the exposure limits are within acceptable levels. 6.1.3 Re-insulate with temporary material. 7.0 ASBESTOS ABATEMENT DEMOBILIZATION 7.1 All decontamination areas shall be dismantled, and all barriers shall be removed and properly disposed of in a method identical to disposing of asbestos contaminated materials. 7.2 The areas shall remain unoccupied, final air samples shall be taken, and acceptable ambient air fiber counts shall be verified prior to recommencement of any activities in the areaa. 7.3 Removal of remaining non-asbestos materials and equipment shall be performed in an orderly fashion. Other non-related activities may be performed concurrently. 8.0 DOCUMENTATION 8.1 Asbestos related documents shall be assembled and filed at the jobsite with duplicates maintained at the home office. Upon project completion the records shall be consolidated, organized, and properly scored for a minimum of 30 years, including: 8.1.1 Progress reports 8.1.2 Air Sample results and monitoring reports 8.1.3 Employee files, including medical screening and respirator training forms. 8.1.4 Foremans Dally Journal and Checklist -6- OOP 0361124 DU 000296 WORK PLAN (CONT'D) 8.1.5 Certified Industrial Hygienist reports 8.1.6 Landfill logs and dumping receipts 8.2 Progress reports, work schedule, payroll, timekeeping, coordination meeting minutes, material receipts, and local invoices shall be maintained at the jobsite in normally accepted company format and procedure. 9.0 APPLICABILITY OF RELATED DOCUMENTS 9.1 As stated in 1.0, this work plan is Intended to describe the methods and procedures to be utilised in the prosecution of the work.
