ii ) April 3, 1968 Mr. L. 0. Griffith, Jr. V'orks Manager Pittsburgh Corning Corporation Post Office Box 37 Port Allegany, Pennsylvania 167^3 Dear Larry: Subject: U.3.P.H.3. Asbestos Dust Studies Report - March 27, 1968 I have reviewed the subject report to you from J. R. Lynch, a copy of which was sent to me at my request. This showed a significant health hazard existed from asbestos dust inhalation throughout the unibestc3 operation. The following jobs were evaluated: mixer feeder, forming builder, finishing saw operator, material handler, packer, inspector and foreman. Similar findings have been made in previous industrial hygiene surveys of this operation and control recommendations'have been made.. You must anticipate that both some cases of asbostosis and an increased incidence of pulmonary carcinoma will develop in your employee population as a result of continued exposure to the3e le:vels for or more years. I strongly recommend appropriate steps be taken as ooon as possible to reduce asbestos dust exposure of the unibesto3 employees to safe levels. Sincerely, Lee B. Grant, M.D lnr cc: Mr. B. M.
