mm CYANAMID To: H' c' <^ffney Location: Chicago Plant From: J' F- Daly Location: Chicago Plant Da,e: 7/27/84 Copy to: R. L. Johnson F. F. Loffelman J. A. Stretanski Extension: Subject: MONTHLY REPORT FOR JULY 1984 Reference: A. TECHNICAL PROJECTS 1. WAXED EXTRUDATES The second extrusion trial at Bepex, Santa Rosa, Ca was fairly successful. We were able to run Cyastab TW at 300 lbs/ hr and Cyastab SW at 600 lbs/hr on the 6" machine. This would equate to 3000 and 6000 lbs/ hr respectively on a 12" or 15" machine. The primary remaining problem is in cutting the pel lets. This can be done with air or CO2. We have to work out the optimum nozzle configuration. To do this we will bring the 6" extructor to the plant on a rental basis. 2. PPG The technical review scheduled for this month in Allison Park, Pa has been postponed to mid - August. We produced 7 successive batches of Cyastab 40 with oil absorptions of 12-13. The first four ranged in crystal struc ture from 15 to 37% 2- 1- 0 form. Salt spray testing on these lots would be very instructive in determining whether oil absorp tion or crystal structure is more important 3. PACKARD ELECTRIC In a telephone conversation. Bob Slapsak recommended that we not do any work on new stabilizers for them in other than their formulation. He promised to send us a masterbatch as soon as possible.
