No. 261 - 1949 February 10 RUPPERT NOV ASSISTANT MANAGER OF CHICAGO BRANCH Philip V. Ruppert has been appointed assistant manager of the Chicago Branch. He was a member of the metal sales department prior to the appoint ment. Mr. Ruppert joined the Company on July 1, 1929 as a traveling auditor. From 1933 to 1935 he with Master Metals, Inc'., moving to the American Lead Corporation as assistant manager in 1935. Two years later he was transferred to the Chicago Branch. HOFFMAN BECOMES CLEVELAND BRANCH COMPTROLLER Durward G. Hoffman has been named comptroller of the Cleveland Branch, succeeding Edward V. Benson. He has been with the Company since March 23, 1937, and was acting assistant comptroller of the Cleveland Branch at the time of the appoint ment. KIRK OPENS NEW SALT LAKE CITY PLANT Morris P. Kirk & Son, Inc. has opened a new plant in Salt Lake City. Produced at the plant, located at 977 South Sixth Vest, a.re antimonial lead, soft lead, .solders, babbitt, type metal and special alloys. Varehouse stocks of sheet lead, pipe and other products are carried at the plant. C. F. Dubs is in charge of the new' plant, with Donald Ure directing sales. STRANAD TO DIRECT PURCHASES FOR TITANIUM A purchasing department for the Titanium Division has been established in the New York office under the direction of Joseph Stranad. The new department will co-ordinate purchases at the Sayreville and Bt. Louis plants and the mine at Tahawus, New York. Mr. Stranad will continue as credit manager of the division and have charge of sales of some plant by-products. COLLINS TO DIRECT SALE OF HEW PRODUCTS J. Gordon Collins has been appointed to direct sales of new products as developed by the pigment division of the Company. It is planned to have him operate from the New York office, and maintain close touch with the new products development department, the research laboratories and all branch personnel interested in the sale of these materials. Mr. Collins was connected with the U. S. Rubber Company for fourteen years, the lr>st eight years as sales manager of the chemical division. Johansen, manager of the Company's flaxseed department, has been re-elected president of the Linseed Association of New York for 1949. This will be his twelfth consecutive term as head of the trade group. "DUTCH BOY" BLENDED PAINT LABORATORY SET UP A separate paint research and development laboratory has been formed at the Brooklyn laboratories to provide the "Dutch oy" Blended Paint Division with a technical service specializing in paint technology.
