Re: Environmental Air and Asbestos Matters
Dear Harley:
In accordance with our telephone conversation, I am enclosing a copy of the newspaper article concerning the General Electric Company's agreement to spend $20 million to remedy contaminated ground water problems in the Hudson River Region.
I am also enclosing the Federal Register Notice of June 20, 1986 that we discussed, which sets forth exposure limits and monitoring requirements for the work area where employees may be exposed to asbestos. On October 17, 1986, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a partial administrative stay of these final rules for nine months, but the stay only applied to occupational exposure to non-asbestiform tremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite.
If you have any questions about these materials, please do not hesitate to call. I look forward to receiving from you the information on Gleason's proposed move of the chrome and copper plating equipment, so that we can determine if construction and operating air permits will be needed.
Very truly yours.
