October 18, 1948 At a regular meeting of the Direetore of John T. Lewie fc Bros. Company, held this day in the Metal Department office, Aramingo Avenue and last Cumberland Street, there were presents J. W. Gardiner, President S. F. Beeves, Vice President and Treasurer A. M. Wilson, Vice President M. H. Merritt, Secretary L. T. Beale, Direetor Geo. A. Watts, Direetor Mr. F. W. lokfeldt, retiring superintendent, and Mr. W. C. Hevin, new superintendent, attended by invitation. The mooting was called to order by Mr. J. W. Gardiner, who presided, and Mr. H. H. Merritt reported the minutes of the meeting. The minutes of the meeting of September 20th were read and approved. The following comparative figures for the month of September 1947 and 1948 and for the nine months of 1947 and 1948 were submitted! September 1947 - Loss 14,685.70 9 months 1947 - Profit $409,215.45 September 1948 ~ Profit $45,976.97 9 months 1948 - Profit $358,294.21 It was reported that our various applications for C4Rs had been approved tinder the following numbers! CfcR 6227 - Addition to factory lunch room $2,600.00 04tB 6250 - Blended Paint warehouse - $2,533*80 C&R 6292 ~ Palletising the handling of oxide drums - $7,823.00 An Interim application has been sent to Mew York in the amount of $3,987.12 for improving the sanitary conditions in Building #15 of our Lead Chemicals Department. Mr. Gardiner reported that Mr. Merson is going to Washington to discuss the question of our crushing some linseed for the government, and Mr. Merson, therefore, requested that we delay any dismantling action of our oil mill for two or three days.
