TO MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DEVILS LAKE IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT: The following is summary of activities since the last regular meeting, along with some preliminary conclusions I have drawn from them. *- FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1984 Conducted a tour of the lake with JamesWitt and Frank Dost, Oregon State professors in Department of Agriculture. Also attending as an observer was William Rogers, Lincoln County Extension Agent. Dost and Witt are not hands-on lake management specialists, they do have expertise in agricultural chemistry and will assistance in community education^efforts when and if herbicides are used-- also, technical information on herbicides heeded. _ SEPTEMBER 22* 1984 Met with Stan Geiger, Scientific Resources, Inc., and inspected plants of Devils Lake. Geiger feels milfoil is only part of the problem. A letter written to Carl Mason with a proposal which should be of interest to members of the Board, copies of which can be furnished. SEPTEMBER 24, 1984 Arranged for on-site Inspection of the weeds and algae in the lake by members of the Boards I felt this was necessary, since we are coming into the stormy season and weeds and algae tend to disperse then, making visual inspection difficult, if not impossible and some members of the Boardrhad not had an opportunity to actually view the weed distribution in the lake. Boats were furnished by A1 Rice of PADL and Dr. Ordelhyde. Present were Ordelhyde, Frederick, and Holt. Absent, Mason and KingT : !: !
