In the short time the Committee has had these responsibilities, it has established four task forces to direct API responses in the following areas: OSHA/EPA, Benzene EPA, Toxic Substances OSHA, Cancer Policy OSHA, Labeling In a previous memo dated November 17, 1977, I indicated that the staff assigned to ICOSH's Benzene Legal/Technical Task Force would be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities associated with the benzene rulemaking. I want to extend this same type of responsibility to the other API staff groups assigned to ICOSH task forces. To ensure adequate staff support and a coordinated approach to all ICOSH-related rulemaking, I want to assign additional respon sibilities to the five API staff members who have provided support to ICOSH. Specifically, I want this staff group to manage API internal activities which support ICOSH and its task forces. In order to do this, it will be necessary for this group to analyze and evaluate (a) issues of interest to ICOSH, and (b) the activities of ICOSH task forces to ensure that their actions are consistent with ICOSH policy.
