YOUNG, TUCKER Marshall RiD Laboratory March 21, 1983 *Those identified with an asterick, pie reply by,April 15th. 3/21/83 T QUALITY ASSURANCE PRIME PIGMENTS PROPOSED COLOR LIMITS Of C&P COLOR PIGMENTS CAP and FAFP are jointly establishing control limits for*their color pigments. These control limits are based on current production limits. Details are given below. We are requesting the addressees to review these limits and report agreement or objections to us by April 15, 1983. The Material Support Group has been working with the CAP Department to set up an improved quality assurance procedure covering their color pigments. In conformance to "least cost" we intend to adopt their control test procedures and control test limits (when acceptable to FAFP). Arrangements are being made that CAP will supply us with their control test results on each lot shipped (Plants as well as RAD locations). This data will be sent under separate cover (at about the same time) to both the plant and the RAD Quality Coordinators. Manufacturing and Production Technology is planning to use this data as part of their new efforts to upgrade Quality Assurance procedures In FAFP. Please find attached agreed on tentative control 1imits. PI ease review and advise me before April 15th of any objections or recommendations. CAP is willing t6 further negotiate changes* if required; The Material Support Group will begin implementation of this program shortly after April 15th. The action plan is as follows: Revise raw material specifications to include CAP test methods (TF), the FAFP TM number and agreed on control limits. Specify "Certification of analyses must be sent to both Plant and RAD Quality Coordinators." Obtain CAP approvals on the revised raw material speclfi cations. Issue CAP test methods (TF) under FAFP test methods (TM) numbers. CAP agreed to up-grade their TF's to include the instrumental color limits. Any revision of a TF will be submitted to FAFP Raw Materials Specification Coordinator, T. A. Scully. He will arrange for necessary Specification and TM changes. (TF sub-code change.)
