CENTRAL VACUUM SYSTEM - TRANSITS FORMING PURPOSE: To provide funds for the installation of a central vacuum system for cleanup in the pipe machine and willow area. PRESENT FACILITIES: At present the Forming Dept, is experiencing housekeeping problems with the hard to reach areas high above floor level. Dust of ail kinds (cement, silica, asbestos, dirt) accumulates on the walkways, guard rails, bin tops, etc. and is diffi cult to remove. There is presently no regular schedule for cleaning these areas, but when it does occur the dust is blown down with an air hose and vacuumed from the floor by a portable vacuum cleaner. This not only is a very time consuming task, but present' an environmental hazard to all persons in the area. PROPOSED FACILITIES; It is proposed to install an exhauster powered by" a 30 hp motor, similar to the proposed booster fans to be installed in the finishing area (AR #026- EC-633). The exhauster will be equipped with a network of vacuum lines and 17 outlets scattered over the willow and pipe machines. All dust collected by this system will be directed through a cyclone and into the wet end dust system. This will allow the dust to be removed in a safe manner on a regular basis without interrupting the workers below. ESTIMATED COST Life . Systems Capital Item Description '>Cost (Yrs.)
