Mr. Scotty McIntosh USMP Company, Incorporated 150 Lynhurst Avenue Staten Island, New York 10305 December 5, 1978 \ >i Dear Scotty: 1 Enclosed, you will find photographs I have taken at Newport News Shipyard showing the old and overhauled rotating elements of the Warren feed pump aboard the EXXON WASHINGTON. As you can see, the pressure reducing ring PC.13 and channel ring PC. 17 are assembled in the wrong sequence, and in no way would the element fit down into the casing. 1 have marked the tangs in white chalk, so they would stand out. I had the shipyard disassemble the two end impellers and reverse the sequence with the Warren feed pump service engineer in attendance. As per our telephone conversation, I am forwarding these photographs. Regards, /John McCracken Repair Inspector JMCC: bt Enclosure e: Mr. H. P. Leyendecker Mr. E. J.
